Free Beer for Bilberries!

Get free beer in exchange for bilberries this autumn as we turn our hands to foraging for local ingredients to craft our next seasonal beer, Bilberry Brew. A fruity, malty ale we’ve been making in small-batches for many years, but which we’re super-sizing this season.

The first bilberries are already piling up. Interested in joining in the great forage?! Drop us an email to find out more sales@welshbeer.com

Festival Time

This August and September find the Hafod brewery bar and bottle stand out at festivals across the north-west. Try our cask, keg and bottled beers and meet the team:

We’ll be at the Flint & Denbigh Show this Thursday 15th August where you can try and buy our new bottled beer range (there’re now 6 beer styles to try!) as well as cask beer on tap. Take a look at:http://www.denbighandflintshow.com/cms/

Join us for one of the north west’s biggest, busiest FREE food and drink festivals in Nantwich town-centre 30th, 31st August and 1st September. Over 100 food and drink producers, street food, live music, chef demos and LOTS of Hafod beer and lager, including our newest seasonals. Check it out:https://www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk/

The Hafod Brewery bar will be at Mold Food and Drink Festival on 21st – 22nd September bringing 6+ beers to go with the live bands, fantastic Welsh produce, chef demos and children’s activities. https://moldfoodfestival.co.uk/index.html

And then there were SIX…

Six bottled beer styles are now available in the Hafod range with a style to suit most tastebuds. Newest beer, Honey Honey, is a 4.4% golden summer seasonal full of fragrant Mexican honey on the nose and in the lingering finish.

Bottles have been flying out to bars, restaurants, cafes and delis as well as at festivals and markets now we’re in the full on festival season. Check out our next post to find out where we’ll be next!

The Bottles Keep on Coming!

And then there were four…

Powerhaus 4.4% pale is the latest in the line-up, an uber-refreshing pale ale brewed with German hop hallertau and U.S. hop pilgrim that layers citrus fruit notes with a powerfully bitter edge.

Look out for our popular pilsner-style lager in bottles at the end of June; fully lagered for a minimum of 8 weeks for a full flavour.

New Look Branding is Here!

It’s out with the old and in with the new this spring at the brewery! We’ll be welcoming back old seasonal favourites like Moel Famau dark ale and newer seasonal like Honey Honey, a Mexican honey special.

Which is your favourite? What are you looking forward to drinking this year?

The Brewery Bar: Out and About Soon!

The pop-up brewery bar is being dusted off and coming out of hibernation as we get ready for two local events: the NEW Theatr Clwyd Beer & Cider Festival on Saturday 2nd March 2-8pm: https://www.theatrclwyd.com/en/whats-on/beer-festival/

and the Fat Boar Wrexham Meet the Brewer on Monday 4th March 7-10pm:

https://www.facebook.com/events/399438714142046/

New brew British 5 Hop IPA will be launching at these events and we’ll be putting together an array of small-batch beers for you to try including our award-winning Coffee Porter. Tickets can be purchased in advance – see the weblink for details.

What’s brewing?

Fresh in this month is Marynka session pale, brewed mainly with Polish hop, Marynka, of the same name. A candied fruit aroma, hints of floral fruitiness and spiciness are all balanced by a refreshing bitter edge at a session friendly 4.1% abv.

British 5 Hop IPA is up next! Using 5 different British hop varieties and an old-school IPA recipe, Brewer Phill has created an India Pale Ale full of flavour at a solid 4.5% abv. The beer will join the lineup as an early spring seasonal.

November Brewery Events

We’ll be getting in to the festive spirit with two brewery events coming up this November: Novemberfest and a Christmas Tap & Tour weekend at the brewery itself.

The pop-up brewery bar will be at Mold’s Novemberfest on 9th – 11th November, offering 6 Hafod beers, including Moldbreaker, our popular Pilsner-style lager on keg. All information including tickets and the live music lineup can be found on the Novemberfest website: http://moldnovemberfest.org.uk/#beers

To try the newest Hafod beers including special small-batch brews such as our rich, Trappist-style Dubbel, buy yourself a ticket to a Tap night this 23rd/24th November or  Tour on the 24th November. Both Tap Nights and the Tour start and finish in our upstairs bar where you can enjoy a pint, a glass of wine and shop for the latest bottle-conditioned beer. https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/hafod-brewing-company-ltd-8894209681
