Special Bottled Beer Commemorates Mold’s Daniel Owen

No, not Michael Owen (although he does hail from nearby Hawarden), this October Hafod Brewery is celebrating the week long Daniel Owen Festival taking place in Mold town centre.

Who was Daniel Owen? If you’ve been to the brewery’s hometown of Mold, you’ve likely walked past the statue of the man in the hat, which resides in (funnily enough) the Daniel Owen Square.

Daniel Owen was the foremost Welsh-language novelist of the 19th Century. His hometown was Mold in Flintshire, where he worked as a tailor, author, preacher and civic leader.

Our special commemorative bottled beer is a 4.5% copper bitter available in bottle and on draught at local stockists from Saturday 17th October – see below for details.

All sorts of family-friendly activities will be on in Mold during the week of the festival – for a full programme of events see: http://www.danielowenfestival.com
