Moel Famau - A Clwydian Range Beer
From The Heart Of The Clwydian Range
-- Moel Famau --
Hafod is proud to be from north-east Wales, our family, brewery and beers are rooted in the area. Often overlooked as people speed down the A55 towards Anglesey or Abersoch, we feel north-east Wales is a bit of a gem in it's own right.
We're part of the Clwydian Range Food Trail , which specialises in promoting the area's outstanding produce, from farm shops, honey & ice creams to beer.
Our head brewer Phill has showcased some of the fantastic ingredients available from the area in Hafod beers; Moel Famau and Bilberry Brew.
Moel Famau Porter
Moel Famau is named after the largest hill in the Clwydian Range. Head Brewer Phill created a range of beers that showcased local ingredients, he chose heather from Moel Famau for this delicious porter. Phill burns the heather and infuses the smoke into the barley malt leaving a subtle note of heather within the rich chocolate and coffee aromas.
Moel Famau is the oldest recipe in our range and always proves a big hit with dark beer fans. It’s also a TV star having been featured on BBC Countryfile, you can see Phill with presenter Matt Baker in the photo's below.
Moel Famau is a porter style dark ale made with a mix of pale, chocolate, crystal, brown and roasted barley malts plus a subtle hint of smoked heather.
This amazing heather is the main feature on our bottle label.
